I want to assure you that you are in the right place. This group does an outstanding job with making everyone feel comfortable. This group is a place where you can be real with one another. None of us claim to be perfect, and we don’t expect you to make the same claim. What you will learn, and experience, is that we are trying to follow Christ in our everyday lives. In the world, we are told that we have to be perfect if we want to fit in. We know that when we follow Christ, we can’t be a part of this world. What Christ offers is so much bigger than what the world can offer. We want to invite any newcomers because you are welcome at anything we do. If you have any questions or have something you need prayers for, please let us know. We want to be here for you!

 

 

Parents

You’ve found the right place for your teen! Rest assured that your teen will be led and encouraged to have a deep, meaningful relationship with Christ. We both know that today’s teens have so many things going on in their lives. Today’s generation of teenagers have the easiest access to more distractions than any other generation. This ministry is here to guide them to a better understanding of the choices they make. With that, they will make more positive choices. We don’t want to fool you in anyway and say that we have all the answers, because we don’t. We just simply want to be models of Christ. The One who can solve every problem we face!

 

Mission:

The idea behind what we are about, behind our logo, comes from Isaiah 45:22. “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.” That is a powerful statement. We want their mindset, their faith, and most importantly, their relationship with others, and with God to change while they are in this youth group. We want all those aspects to do a complete 180. We must know that we cannot become saturated in all of the things of this world if we expect to follow Christ and to be saved. Our mission is to help them build relationships that change lives. We have four areas that we want them to build and to have strong relationships:

  • Relationship with other students who are not connected to God.
  • Relationship with other students who are already connected to God.
  • Relationship with other people through serving together.
  • Most importantly, their relationship with God.

 

Mentor Program

This is a wonderful program that is vital for the church as a whole. How this program works is we pair a teenager with an adult from the congregation. The adult is encouraged to maintain a healthy relationship with that teenager while they are in the youth group. We aim for the adult to spend time with teenager at least once a month. It’s up to you if you want to spend more time with them.

 

Reasons to reach out:

This is a great way to bridge the gap between the adults and the teenagers here at East Cobb Church of Christ. This can be a great way to get involved with something wonderful here. All it takes is a little bit of your time! We aim for the mentor to build a strong, spiritual relationship with the teenager.

 

Benefits to the Mentee:

This program benefits the mentee because not only do they have a relationship with their parents, and also with the youth minister, but they also have the chance to have a relationship with an unbiased adult that can pay great dividends to their spiritual development.

 

Benefits to the Mentor:

This is something where you can practice what you are taught in class, which is leadership skills, and applying those skills in your personal life. Applying those skills with a mentor can help you just as much as it will help them. This gives you a chance to reach out to a teenager and get to see them grow spiritually and know that you were a part of that experience!

Regularly Scheduled Events

Sunday Morning Bible Study- Sunday from 10:20-11:05 am

Wednesday Night – Every Wednesday from 7:00-8:00 pm. (Dinner is at 6pm)

We have some wonderful people who volunteer their time to cook a great meal before church on Wednesday Evenings. This is FREE to any guests who want to come. This should hopefully be just one of the many reasons to come and visit us here at East Cobb Church of Christ!
